225.  It  is Pentecost today

Today, this day is our birthday – the miraculous, joyous birth of the Church of Jesus Christ on the day of the Jewish Feast of Weeks just ten days after the Ascension of Jesus.

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.   (Acts 2:1-4)

The Holy Spirit is the Promise of the Father, the wondrous gift of the  Father God to Jesus to be with us all after He had returned to the unseen.  Of the Holy Spirit Jesus said the following.

 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (Johan 16:7-13)

We have truth, we will be lead in truth, we know the Truth, the man Jesus Christ who is the Life, the Truth and  the Way.  In the confusion and chaos,  the lies and deception of our day and age we have the pearl of great price, that all the money in the world cannot buy.

How shall we live a life of excellence, not just an existence of survival, but a high and holy life of splendour and beauty, without the golden bowl of oil that Zechariah saw flowing from the two olive trees to the seven lamps? (Zechariah 4)  The Holy  Spirit  feeds the Church,  the Lampstand, as the symbolism is confirmed in the first chapter of Revelation.

This is the day that the Lord has made.  Let us be glad and rejoice in it. (Psalms 118:24)

It is this day (and all our days enabled by the Holy Spirit) that we will speak to the mountain (symbolic for problems) and say:

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts.
‘Who are you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!
And he shall bring forth the capstone
With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’
  (Zechariah 4:6,7)

We live in the mighty power of grace, written on the capstone (the stone at the top of the arch above the door –  the door that is opened for us  – Revelation  3:8).  We, the Church of Jesus, the invisible body of believers who are the true power of God in the world, could be the carriers of the Light of the world, Jesus.

We are the carriers of Light never the light ourselves.

Only by the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to convey Truth, Life and Light to the world in desperate need of Jesus and all that his life communicated.

Let the Spirit, the Breath of the Most High God, who hovered over the earth in Creation’s birth, fill us up with true life to live in truth.  Then we will be able to discern the precious from the vile and speak life into our world as the mouth of God. (Jeremiah 15:19).
