195. Sensitive senses

It is almost the end of October of this most extraordinary of years that we call 2020 and mark as the beginning of a new decade.  Just three months into the beginning of another year full of plans and regular life, the governments of the world made regulations to limit personal freedom, travel and business – to combat an invisible virus, a plague that can be compared to Old Testament prophetic utterances and Middle Age eeriness.

At that stage nobody could foresee what the full impact of the illness caused by the virus would be.  The unknown brought the fear it so often carries when people die and the future looks worse than the present.  It was a time of immense adjustment, turmoil and struggle and still is for so many people who had lost income and had to live with personal loss, domestic stress and the death of loved ones.

The historical significance and magnitude of what happened this year will be the subject of countless analysis.  That would be the luxury of hindsight, but for us who have to live through it, wisdom and insight are essential daily equipment to live victoriously.

For us as children of the most high God, the spiritual impact of 2020 is vital.  We are not exposed to the tide of uncertainty and decision-making of secular governments and the often hysterical experimentation that accompanies their regulations.  We live in the invisible Kingdom of Jesus Christ who was raised from the dead and had forever removed the sharp sting of death.  We are different and we respond differently.  It is very necessary to consider our ways and adjust our thought patterns to the Word of God.

It is so easy to become complacent and accept basic salvation as the highest spiritual achievement of our existence on earth.  It is after all the core of our identity and rightly so.  But it is not all.  We live every day with our natural senses to guide us in our environment and decisions.  We cannot truly live without them.

In the same way our spiritual senses should guide us into a deeper relationship with our King.  It is our walk with him, while his Plan and Word (Jesus himself as the mind of God) are revealed to us.  The measure to which our spiritual senses line up with the principles of the Kingdom of God, will be the measure of our victory over the brokenness and sin around us.

The goal of Pebbles, well, the goal of any Biblestudy is the miracle of revelation knowledge.  The insight and the consequent understanding of the deep things of God, bring transformation deep within us with a powerful impact on everyday life and thinking.  We have already discussed the belief of the Jews that words are a unity of energy to create whatever they are uttered for.  It means that words have the ability to execute themselves and accomplish that for which they have been spoken.  It was not possible for Isaac to nullify the blessing spoken over Jacob.  The special blessing of the first-born had been uttered and Esau had to receive the lesser blessing.  The blessing-words spoken would powerfully bring about that for which they have been pronounced – into the thousandth generation.

The full meaning of this statement is sobering – every time when one would allow the power of words to penetrate one’s thinking.  Our declarations are agreements with forces in the spiritual realm.  We ourselves allow negativity and hopelessness to access our world and limit our life on all levels.  We tolerate news and circumstances to dictate our mood.

We are after all our own prophets.  You can determine whether the Word of God direct your thoughts and govern your senses.  Or you can neglect and reject his words of redemption.  You are in control of the “contract” you compose to agree with the destruction and violence of this world and “give” away the “rights” to torment your mind.  On the other hand, you can live counter-intuitively and make the “contract” with the promises of God , his Plan for your life and his Will, which is the constitution of the Kingdom to which you belong.  Evil then has no “right” to penetrate your life and thinking.

Today is the crossroad.  Today is the day to decide.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Please read Deuteronomy 29 and 30 and note the detail of the blessings and curses.

The blessing of the right choice is valid into the thousandth generation.

Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments(Deuteronomy 7:9)

What do you see with your eye?

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!  (Matthew 6:22,23)

“The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. (Amplified)

What do you hear with your ear?

Give ear and hear my voice,
Listen and hear my speech.
   (Isaiah 28:23)

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left
. (Isaiah 30:21)

How does it taste when you roll the words off your tongue?

And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.  (Ezekiel 3:3)

To top it all – your perfume is the knowledge of God!

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.  (2 Corinthians 2:14,15)

Close your eyes for a minute and “feel” the silky softness of your fine, white linen clothes, your “garment of praise” there where you sit in the embrace of your Father.  FEEL it!

Nothing – no knowledge or theology can ever replace an intimate meeting with God himself.
